Because sloths spend most of their time upside down, their hair grows in the opposite direction when compared to other mammals in order to protect them from the elements.
Thanks! Yeah, I didn't either until the woman holding the branch said so. Then, looking at her fur it made total sense, because if it started raining and you were, say, a dog hanging upside down , then the rain would just go straight into your fur instead of following the general direction of your fur and dripping off of you. Maybe that made sense...
